Slovenia, a country on the sunny side of the Alps in the heart of Europe, was hit by a severe natural disaster at the beginning of August. Floods and landslides destroyed a mayor part of Slovenia, floods also claimed several lives and took away the homes of thousands of locals. Rising rivers and landslides destroyed entire villages, many houses, roads, bridges, factories, schools, kindergartens and football fields.

Mr. Aleksander Čeferin, the UEFA President, is the initiator and the driving force behind the charity football match, where many world football stars will collect contributions to help the victims of these floods. So far many stars of world football from the past have happily responded to Aleksander Čeferin's invitation, including Gianluigi Buffon, Andriy Shevchenko, Paolo Maldini, Luis Figo, Zvonimir Boban, Javier Zanetti, Eric Abidal, Predrag Mijatović, Fabio Capello...and others. The entire proceeds from sold tickets, match sponsorships and individual donations from companies and individuals will be allocated to the Radio 1 PROPROSTO BLIZU foundation, which will also distribute aid to affected individuals.
